Pool and Landscape Companies – Arizona Pools

Finding a qualified company that can do both pool and landscape is really tough, especially for most Phoenix residents.  There is really only a few pool and landscape  companies that can effectively design and install your front or backyard construction project.  The truth of the matter is that there are a TON of pool companies in Phoenix, three TONS of landscape companies in Phoenix, but only a handful of pool and landscape contractors that can really put together a premium backyard project.

I dare to say that Unique Landscapes is a pool and landscape company in Phoenix that can handle all aspects of outdoor construction – from Swimming pools and spas to landscape design & Arizona landscaping.  Each project is truly custom built to meticulous specifications by the owner of Unique – a civil engineer!  Unique was even voted one of the top 10 pool and landscape companies in Arizona, by Ranking Arizona Magazine (3 years in a row!)

The swimming pool and landscape industry maintains its very strict and competitive standards – constantly competing for price, quality, and other variables – but one thing is for sure – Unique is running at the TOP of the pack in both swimming pool and landscape projects.

Chandler Pool and Landscape – Final Pictures

Hey guys, long time no blogging!  Sorry – I’ve recently been dealing with the issues of owning my own business, which usually has employee issues (i’ve been lucky for 8 months), but recently lost my pool superintendent, Paul.  He was replaced with a guy who knew a ton about construction, but didn’t want to get his hands dirty (which i told him before i hired him that we were a small company and he would have to actually do some work!)  Needless to say, after 4 days – i asked him to install a diving board .  He quit about 3 hours later…….ha!

My new superintendent (who’s name happens to be the same as mine – Chris) and I have been scrambling to get these new pools up and running.  Last week was actually a learning process for me – as i had to learn how to program my Pentair equipment, setup and install salt chlorinator and ozone sanitization, and chemical startup the Chandler swimming pool and landscape project.

I’m proud to present a few final pictures of the job  – which should show you some idea on how we got from START to FINISH in under 2 months!

WEBSITE IS LIVE!

By now it is widely known that I’m the owner of a pool and landscape company in Phoenix, AZ.  I’ve been BLOGGING for the first time about 2 projects – both pool and landscape renovations that involve all aspects of our outdoor construction skills.  I’ve taken some focus away from my BLOG the last week because of a main focus on my new website which focuses on all aspects of my Unique Company.

I’d be remiss if i didn’t have a chance to brag on some of the special features that we have included in our new site.  Check out the Phoenix landscaping videos  that we have included in our site – there is no other landscape or pool company like it!  Our website has a HUGE gallery of pool, landscape, and special features such as fireplaces, putting greens, swim up bars, jacuzzis & spas, and tons of waterfalls!

Phoenix pools are picking up, and our customers are realizing how great it is to work with a small company with a huge reputation for being able to handle all aspects of their projects.  ONE COMPANY BLENDING LUXURY POOL CONSTRUCTION WITH INNOVATIVE LANDSCAPE DESIGN – is our company tagline!    I should have finished photos of my two BLOG projects by early next week after water is in each pool!  Landscaping is complete on both projects, just waiting on a few checklist items and interior finish.

For now, it’s getting to be pool and landscape season.

Selecting a swimming pool finish in Arizona – the last detail

You know, the schedule on any one of these landscaping and pool projects goes like this.  First, the pool gets going full speed.  I mean we can get every aspect of the shell of the pool (excavation, plumbing, rebar, electrical and shotcrete) done in under 14 days.  That’s moving!  Yet, during that time, there is little landscaping done on these projects.  It’s mainly a focus on getting the integral part of the pool perfect….

After that, the landscaping is FULL STEAM AHEAD!  We really get rolling on the footings, structures, masonry (fireplace & bbq’s), etc…  During that time, the pool pretty much sits.  I mean – we do get some things done (decking – which the landscape guys do), and then pool waterline tile (which sometimes goes in before decking & sometimes after – depending on the decking type).

Phase 1 – pool takes like 2 weeks.  Phase 2 – landscaping takes another 2 weeks.  The third phase – which i’ll conveniently name Phase 3 – takes another 2 to 3 weeks or so.  In this phase, all aspects of pool and landscape start to come together.  Getting the landscape lighting system coordinated with the pool automation.  Getting the landscaping and irrigation and plants around the pool done…  Cleaning out the pool, installing the pool fence and safety barriers, etc…. It all has to come together in the end.

The final aspect of a Arizona swimming pool project is the interior finish.  This is basically the surface that covers up the concrete shell and makes it pretty.  There are many different types and many different brands.  We have used lots of them, but over the years we have settled on recommending PebbleSheen and PebbleTEC.   The product is similar to some others, but the applicators (The guys who actually do the work) are the best in the business.   Along with Pebble – one can install plaster, 3M Quartz, a polished Pebble product called Finest Finish, Beadcrete (glass beads), glass tile (expensive!), and several other options……

My Phoenix pool and spa project has actually chosen a product from PebbleTec called PebbleFINA.  PebbleFINA is a very smooth, plaster based product that they chose for the smoothness. They have several kids who will use this pool a lot, and protecting the feet is priority.  The Chandler swimming pool is also focused on protecting the feet of kids!  They have upgraded from PebbleSHEEN to the Finest Finish product (which is basically similar to PebbleSHEEN, but polished smooth!)  It’s a fabulous choice, and one of my favorites!

Here are a few pics of our Chandler Arizona Swimming pool and landscape project – just the finishing touches before we install the interior finish.  You can see the landscaping is in, the pool fence is up (safety first!), the “cool deck” is going down – almost ready!

If you haven’t checked out my full blog – please do so. It really gets you up to speed on this single blog post on Phoenix Landscape Design. We have been working on 2 projects in Phoenix, Arizona – a pool, spa, and landscape project in Phoenix (Phoenix Landscape), and a similar project in Chandler, AZ – a suburb of Phoenix.  My blog really goes through (from start to finish) the process of successfully building a pool and landscape project (both backyards).

I’m a first time blogger, and quite enjoying myself.  I have learned TONS along the way – and one thing i have learned to do is look back at my blogs, and see how i could have improved them.  Other than being a little chaotic at times, i think i have provided quite interesting content – but i realized that i didn’t show you guys the most important aspect of what we do on a daily basis (and pretty much the foundation for my Phoenix pool and landscape company!)

Pool and Landscape Design is the most critical part of all of our projects.  It’s actually coming up with a concept, based on customer ideas and creative designing (and budget!)  For both the Phoenix Pool & Landscape project, and the Chandler Landscape & Pool Project – i produced a full color landscape design way before we broke ground on either project.  This design actually started back in November of 2008, and progressed over several months, until we had a final concept & landscape & pool design.

Enough said – here they are!  You should be able to see some major details from my blog pics and these designs.  Any questions – please ask!  You can find other designs & things we do on my main website – phoenix landscape design.

I have purposely left out the details, plant legend, and project notes to keep it simple – but that comes with all of our landscape designs – and a complete Arizona Pool Design is also done.

Just thought it was an important part of my BLOG!

Pool & Landscaping is heating up in Arizona!
March 25, 2009, 4:26 am

I  guess every year about this time, my company starts to get overwhelmingly busy!  Despite the economy, the mortgage & lending crisis, and unemployment – people always seem to find themselves outside wondering “what can i do back here?”  Once it hits those 90 degree days in Arizona (and we are there!) , it officially becomes swimming season, and pools are a hot commodity.  Unique Custom Pools is not a large pool company.  We are relatively small, and we don’t shoot for quantity of pools, in fact i think we built only 30- 40 last year (see, i don’t even keep track!).  Our focus is on quality, precision, attention to detail, longevity, and improving the industry standard of pool building.  You can find a full list of the things that we do different (which could be my next BLOG!) on our Arizona Landscaping & Pool website (fancy little link there for you).  We are in the middle of revamping it – so, hopefully it’s up and running with tons of pictures of our swimming pools, spas, arizona landscaping, and outdoor living!

My phone has been ringing off the hook lately, but we still have to put our nose to the grindstone, and finish these two projects in Phoenix and Chandler.  For those of you just tuning in, I have sort of detailed a pool and landscape contractors trials and tribulations of building a complete landscape and swimming pool project in Phoenix Arizona (and one in Chandler – a nearby suburb)  You can see items such as us hitting a sewer line, dealing with local power companies, city inspectors, and then just the overall interest of how quickly and meticuously my crews work to get a project like this done.  Overall, i think we started them both around the same time, and both should finish around the same time (less than 2 months later!)  Not bad for a complete Arizona backyard project (landscape & pool!)   I think you will find that most pool companies will tell you 60 days for construction of a swimming pool – well, we have done both pool and landscape in under 60 days (well…i better not jinx myself – we aren’t quite done yet!)  Check out our progress on the Phoenix job – a few pics from the past few days.
